Are you missing the energy of live circus these days? Sad that the Circus Project is closed for classes until January? Don’t worry - we got you! There are buckets of amazing circus shows coming up over the next couple of weeks to keep you inspired!
Here’s a round-up of some of the current and upcoming virtual circus shows that Circus Project coaches are involved in.
“Celebrate Any Way” by Robin Lane & DoJump
Robin Lane & DoJump are a Portland holiday staple, performing for many holiday seasons at the downtown Newmark Theater. Now, with the performing arts at a standstill, they’ve taken their wacky, genre-defying storytelling to the screen. “Celebrate Any Way” will take the viewer on a madcap journey through the company member’s kitchens and dining rooms. It is an intimate and delicious glimpse of a group of ensemble circus performers, dancers and musicians who have all dedicated their lives to creating ritual and celebration as they face the first holiday season in decades with no holiday show and no holiday dinner.
WHEN: Tuesday, December 29th, 6pm
HOW: Tickets are by donation. Grab your tickets here.
WHAT ELSE: Viewers will be treated to a backstage chat with the artists, and will receive the recipe, history and shopping list for Robin Lane’s Holiday Paella!

“Nightmerica” by Cerberus Circus Society
‘Nightmerica’ is a full-length, story-based circus show created as a spooky Halloween tonic for pandemic life. Now, it is being made available again for the holidays, with the addition of a goofy blooper reel.
WHEN: Available now through January 3rd
HOW: Tickets are $10-$15
WHAT ELSE: Proceeds will go to support Night Flight Aerial as well as Power and Grace Studios

“White Album Christmas,” with Rose City Circus and the NowHere Band
“White Album Christmas” is another Portland holiday classic. In this annual event, the NowHere Band performs the Beatles’ White Album classics, while Rose City Circus adds live aerial and acrobatics acts as well! To pivot to the Covid era, the team will be streaming a mash-up of the best acts through the years, combined with brand-new footage recorded fresh.
WHEN: Friday, December 25, 7:00pm, and also available for streaming afterwards
HOW: Tickets are $10-$20
WHAT ELSE: They are also offering tickets at a $100 “Donor” level, and a $8 “Super Cheap Discount” option for those who are struggling financially.

“Vol 7,” by the Acrobatic Conundrum
Acrobatic Conundrum, the Seattle-based contemporary circus company, has done a couple of shows and residencies in Portland, and we always love seeing what elegant and heart-felt work they are creating. This year, they’ve put together a curated video cabaret wherein Acrobatic Conundrum company members and alumni combine circus disciplines with film storytelling.
”We bring you intimate glimpses of humanity alongside the super-humanity of circus. Both are sorely need in these times.”
WHEN: Saturday, December 26, 7pm, and available for streaming through New Year’s Day
HOW: Tickets are $5-$70, sliding scale
